Product Description

    Smith & Wesson Model 37 Airweight .38 Special J-Frame Revolver, 2 Inch, 5-Shot (1987–1988)

This late-1980s Smith & Wesson Model 37 Airweight is a classic J-frame .38 Special with a 2 inch barrel, five-shot cylinder, and lightweight aluminum alloy frame paired with steel barrel and cylinder. It features fixed sights, checkered walnut service stocks with gold-colored S&W medallions, and the later teardrop/checkered cylinder release. Pre-internal-lock production and an AWP serial prefix on the butt align it with 1987–1988 manufacture.

Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Specific Condition Notes: The revolver shows scattered cosmetic imperfections, including scratches, blemishes, and areas of finish loss.

    What's Included

    • Camo-pattern nylon soft holster with retention strap

The Model 37 Airweight combines an aluminum alloy frame with a steel barrel and steel cylinder to keep weight down while retaining durability where it matters. This example is a J-frame, five-shot .38 Special with a 2 inch barrel and a round-butt grip frame, delivering the compact proportions associated with the series.

Controls are straightforward and period-correct: double-action/single-action operation with an exposed hammer and checkered spur, a smooth, narrow trigger, and the later teardrop/checkered cylinder release. It uses an unshrouded, knurled ejector rod consistent with the Airweight pattern of the era.

Sighting equipment is fixed and snag-resistant, with a serrated ramp front sight and a topstrap groove rear. The revolver wears checkered walnut service stocks with gold-colored S&W medallions for a traditional look and positive purchase.

Factory markings include the S&W trademark crest on the frame and "MADE IN U.S.A. / MARCAS REGISTRADAS / SMITH & WESSON / SPRINGFIELD, MASS." The yoke cut is marked "MOD. 37." The AWP serial prefix on the butt and pre-internal-lock configuration place this revolver in the 1987–1988 production window, within the late-1980s era of U.S.-made S&W J-frames.
