The Smith & Wesson Model 317 AirLite is an extremely lightweight J-frame revolver chambered in .22 LR with an eight-shot cylinder and a 2-inch barrel that uses a stainless-steel liner within an aluminum shroud. This no-lock example carries the AirLite lineage forward from S&W’s classic Kit Gun concept and weighs about 10.5 oz per factory spec. It wears a matte silver finish with black synthetic boot grips and fixed sights, and it is in very good overall condition with an excellent, mirror-bright bore.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Built on S&W’s J-frame round-butt configuration, this Model 317 AirLite features an eight-chamber fluted aluminum-alloy cylinder and a matching matte silver finish across the frame and cylinder. The lightweight construction makes it notably easy to carry while maintaining the familiar J-frame profile.
The 2-inch barrel uses a stainless-steel liner housed in an aluminum shroud with a short underlug. This hybrid construction helps deliver .22 LR performance in a compact, ultra-light package while keeping the weight to an approximate 10.5 oz factory specification.
The revolver uses a DA/SA action with a smooth trigger and an exposed hammer for both double- and single-action operation. Sighting is straightforward and durable, with a fixed top-strap rear groove paired to a ramp front sight.
Ergonomics are handled by black synthetic finger-groove boot grips with S&W medallions, offering a compact hold suitable for the J-frame size. Notably, this example lacks the S&W internal lock and is part of the company’s long-running Kit Gun lineage.
