- Pachmayr Presentation rubber grips (installed)
As a Model 17-4 engineering change, this K-22 Masterpiece represents a well-regarded phase in S&W’s K-frame target lineup. It is a six-shot, .22 LR revolver built on carbon steel with a polished blued finish, combining the classic K-frame form with target-focused features.
The 6-inch carbon steel barrel includes a longitudinally serrated rib and a short, non-full under-barrel shroud. The front sight is a Patridge-style blade on a pinned base, paired with the S&W micrometer click-adjustable rear sight with a square notch for precise elevation and windage adjustments.
The action is double-action/single-action. Controls include a checkered cylinder release latch and a knurled ejector-rod tip. The six-shot cylinder is fluted, and the revolver maintains the hallmark K-frame balance and handling characteristics associated with the K-22 series.
Notable small-part details include a wide, smooth-faced, color casehardened trigger and an exposed, color casehardened hammer with a wide, checkered spur. The revolver wears aftermarket Pachmayr Presentation rubber grips, reflecting a common period upgrade for target shooting comfort.
