Built in the 1968–1969 window, this Universal Second Generation M1 Carbine reflects the company’s commercial take on the platform. It retains the traditional M1 layout with a right-side charging handle, an 18 inch barrel, and a checkered steel buttplate, paired with a straight-comb, low-wood stock in a satin finish.
The stock and handguard are hardwood, with the handguard being a solid, non-vented four-rivet type. A clamp-type barrel band with an integral sling loop is fitted, and there is no bayonet lug. The length of pull is 13.5 inches, offering a familiar feel for M1-pattern shooters.
Sighting equipment consists of a protected front blade on an M1-style base and a fully adjustable rear aperture with protective wings and a right-side knurled windage knob. Controls include a button-type M-marked magazine release and a rotating lever safety inside the trigger guard with a red index dot indicator.
Mechanically, it uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas system with a rotating bolt, consistent with the M1 Carbine concept. As a Second Generation Universal, it incorporates proprietary internal design elements that affect parts interchangeability compared to GI-pattern components. The rifle is configured for iron sights only with no scope bases, rails, or optic cuts present.
Chambered in .30 Carbine with a 20+1 capacity, this carbine pairs its classic format with Universal’s late-1960s commercial features. Made in the USA, it delivers the recognizable handling and sighting arrangement of the M1 platform in a period-correct configuration.
