The Model 37’s bottom-eject system loads and ejects through the same port, providing ambidextrous operation and helping keep debris out of the action. This example also features the early no-disconnector trigger, allowing slam-fire operation as originally designed.
The plain 28 inch field barrel uses a fixed Modified choke and a 2 3/4 inch chamber, a versatile setup for traditional field use. Ithaca’s interrupted-thread barrel attachment with magazine-nut retention is a hallmark Model 37 feature.
The steel receiver carries factory field-scene hunting engraving, with ducks in a marsh on both sides, and is marked “PROOF TESTED.” Walnut furniture includes a pistol-grip stock and a grooved corncob-style forend, maintaining the classic Featherlight profile.
This is a 1950s, pre-855000 Featherlight; on these, barrels were factory fit and serial-matched to the receiver. Capacity is 2+1. A ventilated recoil pad has been installed, yielding a 14.5 inch length of pull while preserving the shotgun’s straightforward field configuration.
