The 22 inch featherweight-contour barrel is Winchester Proof Steel with a clean, crowned muzzle and a polished blue finish. The factory rollmark reads: "WINCHESTER – MODEL 70 XTR FEATHERWEIGHT – 257 ROBERTS – MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. – WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL." There are no open sights, and the barrel has no front-sight ramp.
This is a post-64 push-feed Model 70 action with a jeweled (engine-turned) bolt body and the Model 70 three-position wing safety. Feeding is via an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate and a stated 4+1 capacity.
The walnut Featherweight stock features a schnabel fore-end, ribbon-style cut checkering, an inlaid medallion in the forend belly, and factory sling swivel studs. A red Winchester rubber buttpad with a black spacer provides a 13.5 inch length of pull.
