The Model 10-6 is the heavy-barrel variant of the storied Model 10 line, built on the S&W K-frame. This example carries a 4-inch heavy profile barrel marked "SMITH & WESSON" on one side and ".38 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG." on the other, delivering the duty-style balance and sight picture associated with fixed-sight service revolvers of its era.
It retains its original fixed sights with an integral serrated ramp front blade and an integral top-strap rear groove. The ejector rod is unshrouded with a front locking lug, reflecting period-correct construction. The six-shot fluted cylinder and blued carbon-steel frame align with the factory duty configuration.
Controls include a color-case-hardened, checkered-spur exposed hammer and a smooth-face, case-hardened trigger in double-action/single-action. Checkered walnut Magna-style grips with S&W medallions complete the classic handling profile on the square-butt K-frame.
Factory legends are present, including "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." on the frame, the S&W monogram, and "MOD 10-6" stamped in the yoke cut. Production in the mid-1960s places this revolver squarely within a highly recognizable period of S&W service revolvers.
