The Model 142A pairs a compact 18-inch barrel with a detachable 5-round box magazine for a 5+1 capacity. The action is a right-hand bolt with a round knob and a knurled cocking piece, complemented by a two-position safety lever. The receiver is steel, and the rifle was drilled and tapped at the factory for sight or mount bases.
Furniture includes a walnut stock with a straight comb and M1 Carbine-style left-side sling hardware. A distinctive folding fore-end made of stamped metal can be deployed as a monopod, a signature feature of the 142 series.
Sighting equipment has been converted to a scope-only setup. The iron sights have been removed, with the front sight absent and a pin hole near the muzzle; the rear sight is also absent. The rifle is currently fitted with an unbranded 3-9x32mm 1-inch SFP duplex scope in installed rings.
Produced in the 1949–1957 period in the USA, this example retains the classic 142A configuration while offering a bright, clean bore with sharp rifling. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches.
