Product Description

Savage Model 99 EG .300 Savage Lever-Action Rifle, 24 in Barrel, 1951 Production

This 1951 Savage Model 99 EG in .300 Savage pairs the classic hammerless lever action with a solid-frame receiver and a 24 in steel barrel. It features the 99's internal rotary magazine with a 5+1 capacity, a blued finish, and a walnut pistol-grip stock with cut checkering. It bears a circled "SP" proof and "HI-PRESSURE STEEL — PROOF TESTED" barrel marking. An aftermarket scope mount is installed, and the factory iron sights have been altered (see photos).

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle presents in solid shape with visible cosmetic imperfections, including scratches, blemishes, and areas of finish loss. The bore remains clean and shiny. An aftermarket scope mount is installed. Factory iron sights have been modified; see photos.

The Model 99 EG is a solid-frame (non-takedown) configuration with top loading and top ejection. Its internal rotary (spool) magazine provides a 5+1 capacity in .300 Savage, delivering the hallmark 99 feeding system in a compact, streamlined receiver.

The 24 in steel barrel and blued finish complement the walnut pistol-grip stock and rounded fore-end with cut checkering. A steel shotgun-style buttplate with horizontal serrations and fixed sling eyes complete the classic field-ready layout. Length of pull measures 13.5 in.

Markings include a circled "SP" proof and the "HI-PRESSURE STEEL — PROOF TESTED" barrel legend, consistent with period production. Country of origin is the United States, with year of manufacture documented as 1951.

This example has an aftermarket scope mount installed. The factory iron sights have been modified, leaving a clean setup for the existing mount on the top-eject receiver; see photos.
