Designed by John M. Browning and refined by John D. Pedersen, the Model 17 is a bottom-ejecting, takedown 20-gauge platform built in the United States during the 1920s. Produced only in 20 gauge, it later influenced pump guns such as the Ithaca 37 and Browning BPS.
This example has a 26-inch plain barrel with a fixed Full choke and a 2 3/4 inch chamber. It is set up with a single front bead sight for a straightforward sight picture.
The furniture includes a grooved corncob-style walnut fore-end and a plain walnut pistol-grip stock capped with a Remington-logo hard-rubber buttplate. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
Receiver and barrel extension carry matching serial numbers. Current capacity is configured as 2+1. Factory specification weight is about 5 lb 12 oz.
