The Model 552 Speedmaster is a semi-automatic, blowback-operated rimfire with an under-barrel tubular magazine fed through a side loading port. It is engineered to cycle .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle interchangeably, offering broad ammunition flexibility. The barrel carries the Remington Ilion address and patent numbers, and the rifle ejects to the right.
The receiver includes integral 3/8 in dovetail grooves for tip-off mounts. This rifle is set up with a Universal Standard 4x15 rimfire scope marked Hialeah, Florida and a fine crosshair reticle, secured by tip-off rings. The front sight is a ramped blade without a hood. The rear sight is not present; screw holes are on the barrel just forward of the receiver.
The 23 in barrel pairs with a full-size hardwood stock. Stock details include an uncheckered, straight-comb profile with a hard buttplate and an uncheckered fore-end. The metal wears a blued finish, and the length of pull measures 13.5 in.
