This First-Issue configuration features the early checkered black hard-rubber grips with molded COLT ovals, a fixed front sight, and the patent-date barrel address synonymous with the period. It is built on Colt's small D-frame with a square butt and retains a fixed-sight arrangement with a front sight and topstrap groove rear.
Markings include the barrel-left rollmark reading "POLICE POSITIVE SPECIAL 32-20 W.C.F." and a barrel-top address with patent dates Aug. 5, 1884; June 5, 1900; and July 4, 1905. The left side of the frame bears the Colt Rampant Pony logo, adding to the period-correct presentation.
The revolver operates with double-action/single-action capability and uses Colt's Positive Lock internal hammer block safety. It has a six-shot fluted cylinder with a swing-out star extractor, the early Colt checkered rear-pull cylinder latch, and an unshrouded ejector rod with a knurled "mushroom" tip.
