Stainless-steel construction is used throughout the frame, barrel, cylinder, and loading assembly. The six-shot, unfluted percussion cylinder has recessed nipple area openings and is clearly roll-marked "USE BLACK POWDER ONLY." The frame is marked "RUGER OLD ARMY," and the revolver wears smooth hardwood grip panels with Ruger silver-eagle medallions.
The revolver uses single-action cap-and-ball operation in .45 Black Powder Only (cap-and-ball percussion). An under-barrel loading lever/rammer with a knurled cylindrical latch near the muzzle and a smooth, concave plunger face facilitates charging each chamber. Ruger guidance supports .457 inch round ball or .454 inch conical projectiles.
Sights include a ramped front blade and an adjustable target-style rear, pairing with the 7.5-inch barrel for a clear sight picture. The cylinder capacity is six rounds.
Design features derived from the Ruger Blackhawk include coil-spring internals and an interlocking base-pin/rammer assembly that enables tool-less cylinder removal. Safety notches between nipples provide added security when carried between chambers.
This example dates to 2000, within the model’s 1972–2008 production span. It is cataloged as KBP-7 with manufacturer part number 01404 and was made in the United States.
