The 4-inch barrel is the heavy profile type with a partial underlug and a serrated rib. It carries the correct barrel rollmarks, with "SMITH & WESSON" on the left and "S.&W. 357 MAGNUM" on the right, and uses a pinned barrel construction with recessed chambers in the fluted six-shot cylinder.
The sights are classic S&W iron sights: a Baughman-style serrated ramp front and a micrometer-click adjustable rear. Controls include a wide, smooth-faced trigger and a wide, checkered hammer spur for confident DA/SA operation, plus a checkered cylinder release latch and a knurled ejector-rod tip.
The revolver is built on a carbon steel K-frame with a high-polish blued finish and square-butt configuration. It wears checkered wood target stocks with S&W medallions, completing the Combat Magnum setup known for its balanced handling in this configuration.
Factory markings are present, including the S&W monogram on the sideplate and the right-frame stamp "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." The yoke/crane shows the assembly number with inspector stampings, and production falls within the early 1970s 2K serial range consistent with this Model 19-3 configuration.
