The rifle is built on a long-action magnum configuration with a right-hand feed/eject and a large ejection port. Its 24-inch sporter-taper barrel is unthreaded and set up without iron sights, finished in matte blue to match the action. The bolt body is polished with a matte handle for a clean, functional contrast.
The synthetic stock is black/charcoal with a pebble-textured surface for grip. It incorporates a straight comb, molded cheekpiece, and a rubber recoil pad, along with front and rear sling swivel studs. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
Controls include an adjustable trigger and a 3-position, side-mounted safety lever. The receiver is drilled and tapped with four holes for scope mounting; no scope mount is installed on this example.
Manufactured by Saco Defense in Saco, Maine, this model carries the correct factory markings: the receiver is marked "COLT LIGHT RIFLE SACO, ME MADE IN USA" with the Rampant Colt, and the barrel is marked "USE ONLY 300 WIN MAG." An "SD" stamp appears on the barrel shank/front receiver ring. Production was limited (approximately 6,000 rifles) and the line was discontinued by 2000.
