Built during WWI, this M1911 reflects the early U.S. service configuration valued by collectors and enthusiasts. The slide shows the vertical rear-only serrations and the narrow, non-lowered ejection port associated with original M1911 production.
The frame features the long, smooth trigger and a flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, along with a checkered magazine release, a grip safety, and a manual thumb safety. The wide spur, checkered hammer is correct to the era. Sights are the small fixed blade front and fixed notch rear typical of the period.
Markings include "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY," denoting its U.S. military-contract origin. The pistol uses the single-stack 1911 grip frame and standard 7+1 capacity in .45 ACP.
The installed checkered wood grips with Colt gold medallions are later replacements and not original to this gun. Construction is all-steel, and operation is the classic short-recoil, locked-breech, single-action system.
