This Model 66 uses a lever to open the top-break action, exposing the chamber for a single 12 gauge shell. It operates with an exposed hammer and includes a rebounding hammer safety system. An automatic extractor lifts the shell for easy removal after firing. Capacity is one round.
The 28 inch steel barrel is roto-forged and smoothbore with a fixed Full choke for tighter patterns. It is chambered for 3 inch shells and finished in blue. A simple brass bead front sight is fitted, with no rear sight.
The receiver is aluminum alloy with a painted finish, keeping the gun light while maintaining durability. The stock set is plain hardwood with an uncheckered finish and a black ribbed buttplate. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
Factory roll-marks on the barrel read: "M-66 SUPERSINGLE - 12 GA., 3" CHAMBER / ITHACA GUN CO., INC., ITHACA, N.Y. - MADE IN U.S.A. / PROOF TESTED - ROTO FORGED". Country of origin is the United States, and the era of manufacture is the 1960s–1970s.
