What's Included
- C.G. Haenel Gewehr 98 large-ring M98 receiver (marked "C.G. HAENEL SUHL 1917" and "Gew.98.")
- Ejector/bolt-stop assembly numbered "56"
Manufactured in Suhl and dated 1917, this Gewehr 98 receiver carries imperial crown-over-letter inspection/acceptance stamps and an imperial proof, consistent with WWI German service production. The left-side rail is correctly marked "Gew.98." and the receiver ring is roll-marked "C.G. HAENEL SUHL 1917."
The receiver is the large-ring, long M98 pattern with the left-side thumb cut for stripper-clip loading, a rear bridge that has been machined flat (charger-clip guide removed) and bears a single round hole on its top surface, and an integral front recoil lug. The receiver is forged steel, as expected for period Mauser actions.
Configuration details are receiver only: no barrel, no bolt assembly, and no bottom metal. The ejector/bolt-stop assembly is present and numbered "56." The tang underside is stamped "3." Two small drilled holes are visible through the front receiver ring in vertical alignment. Additionally, there is a single round hole on the top of the rear receiver bridge.
Dimensional note: box length is 3.32". This WWI-marked Haenel receiver is sold as a gunsmith special and will require proper build-out or restoration by a qualified professional.
