- Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori Gevär m/96 bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x55 Swedish
- Installed cleaning rod
The Gevär m/96 is the classic Swedish Mauser long rifle pattern, and this example reflects its 1900 Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori origin with the correct receiver-ring crest. It follows the standard configuration with a 29-inch steel barrel, blued receiver and barrel, and small parts and bolt left in the white.
The action is the controlled-feed Mauser system with an external claw extractor. Feeding is via a 5+1 internal box magazine that can be charger-loaded through the receiver bridge. It uses a straight bolt handle with a round knob, and includes a floorplate release.
Sighting equipment consists of an open tangent rear sight with an elevator/slider and a replaceable front blade. The front band incorporates a bayonet lug, and the original cleaning rod remains installed beneath the barrel. An additional right-side rear sling swivel is present.
The hardwood stock is full-length with dual grasping grooves and a short handguard, capped by a steel buttplate. A brass Swedish three-segment stock disk is in place, a signature element on m/96 rifles that conveys unit or bore data as originally configured.
Markings include the receiver ring crest with a crowned C over "CARL GUSTAFS STADS GEVARSFAKTORI" and the year "1900," inspector initials "O.G." on the left receiver rail, and a crown over "079" on one barrel band. The rifle exhibits extensive serial-suffix matching on many components, with one band noted as non-matching.
