Remington Model 11 16 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun, 28 in Plain Barrel, 1934, Poly-Choke, 2-3/4 in Chamber
This 1934 Remington Model 11 is a 16-gauge, long-recoil autoloading shotgun built on the Browning Auto-5 pattern with a standard 4+1 capacity. It features a 28-inch plain steel barrel originally marked FULL, a factory blued steel receiver with an anti-glare top strip, and American walnut furniture. A Poly-Choke Single Turn adjustable muzzle device and a ventilated rubber recoil pad with black spacer are installed, and the barrel is marked with Remington proofs and a DC date code.
The receiver is roll-marked "Remington Trade Mark MODEL 11," with right-side ejection and a two-piece takedown screw arrangement. The shotgun is chambered for 2 3/4 in shells and retains its long round magazine tube; the knurled magazine/takedown cap is missing. The walnut fore-end shows side checkering, and the stock has a smooth, uncheckered pistol grip with a 14.5 in length of pull. This is the standard Model 11, not the three-shot Sportsman variant.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Fair - Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.
Specific Condition Notes: The original blued finish shows noticeable thinning. The American walnut stock exhibits moderate handling marks. The characteristic humpback receiver shows silvering along the edges with scattered surface peppering. The bore presents expected lead fouling or light frosting consistent with use. The knurled magazine/takedown cap is missing, leaving the threaded magazine tube end exposed at the forend tip.
What’s Included
- Choke Device: Poly-Choke Single Turn adjustable choke (installed)
- Recoil Pad: Ventilated rubber recoil pad with black spacer (installed)
Built in 1934, this Model 11 reflects the classic Browning Auto-5 pattern that defined early American autoloading shotguns. It operates on the long-recoil system, with right-side ejection and the familiar humpback receiver profile. The top of the receiver has a matte anti-glare strip for a clean sighting plane.
The 28-inch plain (non-ribbed) steel barrel is stamped "16 GA." and "FULL" and carries the Remington oval proof along with the DC date code. A small front bead is present, and the long round magazine tube normally terminates in a takedown cap for field-stripping and maintenance; on this example the magazine/takedown cap is missing.
