What's Included
- Stevens Model 87A .22 LR semi-automatic rifle
The receiver features the recognizable series of vent or "gill" slots, with an external coil spring visible in the right-side stock cutout. This design is the source of the rifle’s "Gill Gun" and "Click-Clack" nicknames and is a hallmark feature of the Model 87A family.
Barrel markings read: ".22 SHORT, LONG OR LONG RIFLE — LONG RIFLE ONLY AS AUTOMATIC." In practice, the rifle runs semi-automatically with .22 LR and can be used as a single-shot or manual repeater with .22 Short or .22 Long as needed.
The rifle uses an under-barrel tubular magazine with a brass-colored loading port and a knurled magazine tube cap at the muzzle. Capacity is listed at 15+1 with .22 LR, paired with a 24-inch barrel for a traditional small-bore rimfire layout.
Controls include a round, checkered bolt knob; the push-in bolt handle locks the bolt open or closed. A large knurled takedown screw sits ahead of the trigger guard, and the rear receiver is capped with a knurled end piece for easy field handling.
The hardwood stock has a straight comb with a slight pistol grip, and the rifle is equipped with open sights: a front blade and an open rear sight with an elevator. The blued finish rounds out a classic Stevens rimfire built in the United States.
