Built on the M14-pattern platform with a right-side operating rod, this rifle uses a gas-operated, short-stroke piston system with a rotating bolt. The receiver is Norinco production, drop-forged from AISI 8620-type steel. The barrel is marked M14A SPORTER 308 CHINA.
The 22-inch steel barrel is chrome lined with a 1:12 twist, paired with a standard M14 gas cylinder using a hex-head plug. These core components reflect the classic M14 layout while maintaining the durability and serviceable design the pattern is known for.
Custom features include a metal quad-rail handguard with position index markings and an extended top Picatinny rail that runs from the receiver over the handguard. A cylindrical multi-port muzzle brake/compensator is installed. The front sight has been removed, and the rifle retains a USGI-style rear aperture sight with windage and elevation knobs.
The black synthetic fixed stock offers sling swivels and textured grip/forend surfaces, with a 13.5-inch length of pull. It accepts detachable M14-pattern magazines and includes four magazines in the listed capacities. This Chinese M14 pattern uses metric-thread interfaces that can affect parts compatibility. It was imported during the finite 1988–1994 period and is considered pre-ban.
