The Police Service-Six is rollmarked on the frame and built on Ruger’s investment-cast, sideplate-less steel design with a solid topstrap. It uses a six-shot fluted cylinder and Ruger’s push-button cylinder latch for straightforward operation.
The 4 in steel barrel has a partial underlug with an ejector-rod housing. Sighting is fixed and duty-simple: a pinned ramp front blade and a fixed square-notch channel milled into the topstrap. The pinned front blade is height-interchangeable per factory parts listings.
This revolver runs in double-action/single-action and incorporates Ruger’s transfer-bar safety. It has a smooth-faced trigger and an exposed hammer with a checkered spur for positive cocking.
Chambered for .357 Magnum, it will also chamber .38 Special. Built in 1976 in the United States, this Six Series revolver reflects the configuration widely used by U.S. law enforcement during the period. It retains its blued finish and two-piece checkered wood stocks with Ruger medallions.
