This German-made SIG Sauer P228 stands out as a late-1990s compact P-Series pistol with hallmark features collectors look for. It has a stamped carbon-steel slide with a pinned breech block, a classic non-railed alloy frame with the later squared/hooked trigger guard, and German proof marks with the KI date code indicating 1998 production. Made in Germany and imported by SIGARMS INC., EXETER-NH, this P228 carries German proof marks and the KI date code. The pistol reflects late-1990s production with the compact P-Series profile and attention to fit and function typical of this era.
The slide is the desirable stamped carbon-steel type with a pinned breech block, rear serrations, and a narrow profile with no external extractor. It is paired with a hard-anodized aluminum-alloy frame featuring the later squared/hooked trigger guard and compact dimensions.
It operates with a DA/SA action and includes a decocking lever and firing-pin safety. Controls are traditional SIG: a left-side button magazine release, a curved trigger, and an external spur hammer.
Sighting is via fixed contrast bar-dot irons: a front blade with a white dot and a rear square notch with a vertical white bar. The hammer-forged 3.9-inch barrel and double-column system provide a 10+1 capacity in 9mm Luger.
The P228’s configuration is closely related to the U.S. M11 military setup, making this example a strong representation of the model’s service-oriented design and German manufacture.
