This Government Model is the Model O variant marked by Colt as 01991, combining the traditional 5-inch 1911 format with the Series 80 firing-pin block. Chambered in .45 ACP and set up for a 7+1 capacity, it retains the classic controls and lines associated with Colt’s Government Model lineage.
The pistol is built on a blued carbon-steel frame and slide. It uses a standard barrel bushing and a GI-style recoil spring plug. The mainspring housing is arched and vertically serrated, pairing with a checkered magazine release, a short solid trigger, and a spur hammer for a traditional 1911 handling profile.
Sighting is via fixed 3-dot sights, with a white-dot front and a fixed rear set in a dovetail. The slide includes rear vertical serrations and a lowered and flared ejection port.
Factory markings include the left-side slide legend "COLT’S GOVERNMENT MODEL .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER" with the Rampant Colt logo, the right-side slide legend "COLT PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN.
U.S.A.," and "COLT .45 AUTO" on the barrel hood. Manufactured in the USA in 2012, this example aligns closely with Colt’s documented 01991 configuration.
