Built by Winchester Repeating Arms in the United States, this Model 1897 is an E-Series takedown example with the E-series stamp above the receiver serial. It uses a pump-action system with an exposed hammer and a trigger without a disconnector, allowing slam-fire operation. Right-side ejection and a 5+1 capacity align with the model’s classic configuration.
The shotgun’s 26-inch steel barrel is fitted with a Poly Choke adjustable muzzle device. The collar is marked MOD, and the vented cap functions as a compensator. Sighting is a simple, front-focused arrangement at the muzzle device with no dedicated rear sight, providing a straightforward sighting setup.
This takedown configuration has a replaced barrel and magazine tube assembly that does not match the receiver number. The blued steel receiver and barrel retain their classic appearance, with finish wear consistent with use and age noted in the condition section.
Furniture includes a walnut semi-pistol grip stock wearing a Pachmayr Gun Works ventilated recoil pad, yielding a 13.5-inch length of pull. The ribbed walnut slide handle offers a traditional grasp and complements the Model 1897’s handling characteristics.
