Built at the ROMA arsenal, this Modello 1891 Fucile retains the long-rifle configuration with a 30.7-inch barrel and a full-length stock secured by two barrel bands. It uses the split-bridge Carcano action with a straight bolt and round knob, and the barrel features the Carcano's gain-twist rifling in 6.5 Carcano.
The rifle is equipped with iron sights: a front blade and a rear tangent/ladder graduated to 20. It includes the cocking-piece safety and sling provisions consisting of a rear bottom swivel and a front left-side sling bar. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
Feeding is via a Mannlicher en-bloc system; the rifle is currently set up for single-loading, and no en-bloc clips are provided. Listed capacity is 1 round.
Production and markings are consistent with WWI service. The chamber flat is stamped "918" for 1918 manufacture, and inspection marks include an oval "13" and a B6-style stamp near the rear sight base, a small proof on the bolt handle root, and a buttstock arsenal roundel with crown. The rifle has a blued steel finish, a hardwood oil-finished stock with a separate top handguard, and a steel buttplate. The barrel and stock share matching serials; the bolt is non-matching.
