Built on a stainless-steel frame with a matching stainless slide, this Model 659 represents S&W’s second-generation high-capacity service pistols. This configuration features a rounded trigger guard, diagonally slanted rear slide serrations, a smooth front strap, an arched backstrap, and a lanyard loop at the butt.
The sighting system pairs an adjustable rear sight with a pinned ramp front sight for a clear, traditional iron-sight picture. Controls include an ambidextrous, slide-mounted safety/decocker and an exposed spur hammer. The action is a short-recoil, locked-breech DA/SA system.
This double-stack 9mm is set up for a 17+1 capacity and comes with two 17-round magazines and one 15-round magazine. The included steel magazines are 59-series compatible; markings observed on examples include "PATENT 5,386,657."
Aftermarket carved wood grip panels are installed, giving the pistol a distinctive, period-correct look while maintaining the robust stainless construction associated with the Model 659. An A-prefix serial format is observed, aligning with its 1980s U.S. manufacture.
