The Model 39-2 combines a blued steel slide with an aluminum-alloy frame finished in black anodizing, delivering a classic S&W look with reduced carry weight. Its DA/SA operation, smooth curved trigger, spurred hammer, and left-side push-button magazine release reflect the proven controls of S&W’s classic autos.
This adjustable-sight configuration pairs a ramped, serrated front blade integral to the slide with a micrometer-style, screw-adjustable rear sight for precise elevation and windage tuning. A matte anti-glare top rib and rear vertical slide serrations enhance sight focus and handling.
The slide-mounted safety/decocker is characteristic of the period, providing familiar ergonomics and function. Checkered walnut stocks with S&W medallions and a checkered backstrap offer secure purchase and a timeless appearance.
Manufactured in 1981 in the USA, this late 39-2 example (A-prefix serial range) represents the refined stage of the model’s second engineering change. Markings include the traditional S&W legends and circular trademark logo.
