The BDL configuration delivers the quintessential Model 700 look: a high-gloss walnut Monte Carlo stock with cheekpiece, bordered point-pattern checkering, a black grip cap with white-line spacer, a contrasting black fore-end tip with white-line spacer, sling-swivel studs, and a checkered metal buttplate with white-line spacer. The polished, engine-turned bolt body and checkered bolt knob complement the blued steel receiver and barrel.
Chambered in .223 Rem with a 24-inch sporter-contour steel barrel, this rifle uses an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate for a 5+1 capacity. It includes a two-position safety and a 13.25-inch length of pull. The receiver is drilled and tapped, with a one-piece cross-slot base and 1-inch rings already installed.
The clean barrel profile omits open sights, favoring optics use via the installed hardware. The receiver and barrel wear a traditional blued finish, and the action exhibits the smooth cycling for which the Model 700 is known.
Markings include the Remington Ilion, N.Y. barrel rollmark with patent numbers, the barrel date code "BI," and adjacent inspector/proof symbols. The "BI" code corresponds with the documented 1976 manufacture and places this example in the 1970s production era in the USA.
