- Three 8-round single-stack steel magazines
This no-dash Model 39 is a first-generation configuration with an alloy frame and blued steel slide, combining light weight with a classic 1960s S&W profile. It uses a DA/SA action with a slide-mounted safety/decocker and a magazine disconnect, along with an external extractor and a matte anti-glare top on the slide.
The 4-inch carbon-steel barrel is chambered in 9mm Luger, feeding from a single-column 8+1 system. Three 8-round magazines are included, matching the pistol’s original single-stack design.
Sighting equipment consists of a micrometer-adjustable rear unit paired with a plain ramped front sight featuring a serrated face for reduced glare. Controls include an exposed spurred hammer, a vertically serrated backstrap, and a smooth front strap. Checkered walnut stocks with S&W medallions round out the period-correct grip profile.
Made in the United States during the 1960s, this 1968-produced pistol reflects the early production lineage of the Model 39. The design is widely recognized as the first commercially offered U.S.-made DA/SA 9×19 pistol and the basis for the Navy Mk 22 Mod 0 "Hush Puppy" platform.
