The rifle follows Ruger’s Model 8500 configuration: a flat-top upper receiver with a MIL-STD-1913 rail, forward assist, ejection-port cover, and shell deflector. It uses a carbine-length gas system with a two-piece polymer handguard retained by a delta ring and marked with the Ruger medallion. The 16 in barrel is threaded and fitted with an A2 birdcage flash suppressor.
Key customizations include a Lantac M-SPEC bolt carrier group and a non-factory fixed A2-style rifle buttstock. The A2-style polymer pistol grip complements the fixed stock, and the length of pull measures 13.75 in.
Sighting is straightforward with an A2 front sight base and a Ruger Rapid Deploy flip-up rear sight. The flat-top rail provides standard mounting real estate while keeping the sight line consistent with the A2 front post.
The receivers are aluminum with a black anodized finish, and steel components are finished in black oxide per the factory label. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, it accepts AR-15 pattern magazines and is rated for a 30+1 capacity. This example was produced in 2016 at Ruger’s Mayodan, North Carolina facility.
