It features matching serials on the barrel underlug and locking block, ribbed brown Bakelite grips, and a correct late-war two-tone finish: a dark blued slide and barrel paired with a matte gray phosphate/parkerized steel frame. Built by Spreewerk at Grottau and coded 'cyq', this P.38 represents late-war 0-series production in 1945. It carries the Spreewerk 'U' test/acceptance mark and eagle proof, with the correct 'cyq' maker code on the gun.
The pistol is chambered in 9mm Luger and uses the P.38's falling locking block system. It operates DA/SA and includes a slide-mounted safety/decocker and loaded-chamber indicator, with the red 'F' paint still visible.
Construction is all steel with a two-tone finish: a dark blued slide and barrel and a matte gray phosphate/parkerized frame. Sighting is fixed: a front blade on the barrel band and a square-notch rear integral to the slide. A lanyard loop is fitted at the heel of the frame.
Key configuration details include a 4.9-inch barrel and an 8+1 capacity with the included single-stack magazine. Matching numbers on the barrel underlug and locking block add to its appeal for collectors and historians of WWII-era sidearms.
Accompanying the pistol is a WWII P.38 leather flap holster embossed 'P38' with maker/date code 'jcx 1942', a period piece that predates this 1945 pistol and complements the ensemble.
