Built during the 1966 all-steel production run, this no-dash Model 39 represents an early configuration of S&W’s classic 9mm service pistol. The slide carries the early "PAT'S PENDING" marking and the barrel hood is stamped "9 M.M. CTG.", details that distinguish this example within the Model 39 lineage.
The pistol is a full-size, DA/SA, short-recoil, locked-breech design with a slide-mounted safety/decocker and a left-side magazine release. Its exposed hammer provides a clear visual and tactile status, while the checkered backstrap and checkered walnut grips with S&W medallions offer secure handling.
