Winchester Model 1892 Short Rifle, .218 Bee, 20.5 in Round Aftermarket Barrel, 1907 Top-eject with Receiver Aperture Sight
Manufactured in 1907, this Winchester Model 1892 Short Rifle was later converted to .218 Bee with an aftermarket 20.5-inch round barrel. It retains the takedown, top-eject receiver, short tubular magazine, and classic short-rifle furniture, and adds a receiver-mounted aperture sight that bridges over the bolt. The bore is excellent, and the rifle presents as a tasteful, period-style conversion that combines pre-WWI manufacture with a later varmint cartridge.

What’s Included
- Winchester Model 1892 Short Rifle in .218 Bee (aftermarket 20.5-inch round barrel)
- Receiver-mounted aperture rear sight
- Ramped front blade sight (hoodless)
This 1907 receiver anchors a true short-rifle configuration with a steel forend cap, straight grip, and crescent steel buttplate. It is a takedown, top-eject design with a right-side loading gate and a standard loop lever—features consistent with early Model 1892 production.
The rifle was later rebarreled and chambered in .218 Bee. The aftermarket barrel measures approximately 20.5 inches, is round in profile, and is paired with a button/short tubular magazine that offers a 4+1 capacity. No rear barrel sight is present, which complements the upgraded receiver sight arrangement.
Sighting is handled by a receiver-mounted aperture that bridges over the bolt and incorporates a micrometer-style elevation screw for precise vertical adjustments. Up front is a hoodless ramped blade. This setup provides a clean, unobstructed barrel top while keeping sight radius and adjustment capability focused at the receiver.
The furniture consists of straight-grain walnut for both stock and forend, with a steel forend cap and a crescent steel buttplate. The length of pull is 12.75 inches. Wood-to-metal styling reflects the classic short-rifle look and feel.
Overall condition is good with signs of prior handling, while the bore stands out as excellent with sharp rifling. Originating from the United States in the pre-WWI era, this Model 1892 offers the appeal of an early receiver combined with a later .218 Bee conversion and an aftermarket barrel.
