This Deluxe Takedown configuration pairs Winchester’s Model 1886 action with a 24-inch round nickel-steel barrel rollmarked Nickel Steel Barrel — Especially For Smokeless Powder and chambered in .33 WCF. The rifle carries a full-length tubular magazine with a 5+1 capacity, and the receiver and barrel ring bear Winchester oval WP proofs. The upper tang is marked MODEL 1886 — WINCHESTER — TRADE MARK.
Sighting equipment is set up around a Lyman No. 21 receiver peep sight installed, marked LYMAN'S PAT. JUNE 25, 95. The front is a dovetailed blade, and the rear barrel sight dovetail has been neatly plugged, consistent with receiver-sight use.
The stock and fore-end are select/fancy walnut with hand-cut checkering, paired with a rifle-style crescent steel buttplate. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches. The steel receiver and barrel sit over the classic lever-action mechanism, with a round-profile barrel suited to the period smokeless .33 WCF loading.
Markings include barrel patent dates Oct. 14, 1884 and Jan. 20, 1885. The left side of the receiver is personally engraved JAMES S. RAYBURN.
