Smith & Wesson Model 66 No-Dash .357 Magnum, 4-Inch (1973) Stainless K-Frame Combat Magnum
This early no-dash Model 66 from 1973 is the stainless Combat Magnum on the K-frame, built with a pinned 4-inch barrel and a six-shot fluted cylinder. It features a satin stainless finish, square-butt frame, and factory target-style checkered wood stocks with S&W medallions. Adjustable sights, a smooth-faced trigger, and an exposed, checkered-spur hammer round out a configuration collectors and shooters look for in the first-generation stainless counterpart to the Model 19.
The barrel rib and topstrap are longitudinally serrated, and the partial underlug with a shrouded ejector-rod housing maintains the classic K-frame balance. "MOD. 66" is marked on the crane/yoke, and the revolver retains the hallmark Combat Magnum setup with adjustable iron sights: a ramped front with red/orange insert and a white-outline rear blade. Made in the United States, this no-dash example presents the defining features of the original stainless Combat Magnum series.

This no-dash Model 66 represents the first iteration of Smith & Wesson’s stainless Combat Magnum, introduced as the stainless-steel counterpart to the blued Model 19. The 4-inch pinned barrel, partial underlug, and shrouded ejector-rod housing deliver the classic K-frame handling with stainless durability.
The revolver’s sighting system includes a ramped front sight with a red/orange insert and an adjustable rear sight with a white-outline blade, providing a crisp, usable sight picture. The topstrap and barrel rib are longitudinally serrated to reduce glare.
Controls are set up for double-action/single-action use, with a smooth-faced trigger for consistent press and an exposed, checkered-spur hammer for positive single-action cocking. The six-shot fluted cylinder, satin stainless frame, and cylinder complete the Combat Magnum formula.
Factory target-style checkered wood stocks with inset S&W medallions and the square-butt frame provide a secure, classic grip profile. "MOD. 66" is marked on the crane/yoke, and the revolver was made in the United States during the 1970s era of early stainless K-frames.
