The Tactical Optics-Ready receiver accepts Shield RMSc-pattern optics and is also drilled and tapped, giving straightforward mounting options. Receiver markings include "940 PRO" and "MOSSBERG 940 12GA." The matte black finish on the receiver and barrel presents a uniform, low-glare appearance.
The 18.5 in barrel is Accu-Choke threaded and roll-marked for both 2 3/4 and 3 in shells. Capacity is 7+1. A red fiber-optic front bead provides a bright, simple sight picture suited to this defensive-length configuration.
Mossberg’s 940 gas system is engineered for extended intervals between cleanings, with a factory claim of around 1,500 rounds. Key internals feature nickel-boron coatings, including the gas piston, magazine tube, hammer, and sear, for added corrosion resistance and easier maintenance.
