The FPC’s right-side-folding barrel/forend assembly locks in place for transport, reducing overall length to about 16.4 in. Unfolded, the carbine measures roughly 30.4 in, offering a compact storage profile with full-size handling on the range.
Its 16.25 in 4140 steel barrel is threaded 1/2x28 and paired with a 1:10 twist. The direct-blowback system uses a stainless-steel bolt with an integrated recoil buffer, delivering simple, robust operation with right-side ejection.
The fixed glass-filled polymer stock integrates carriers for two spare M&P double-stack magazines and a QD sling swivel cup at the toe. An M&P-style textured pistol grip accepts interchangeable backstraps to fine-tune the hand fit, and the flat-faced trigger provides a consistent pull.
A 1913 Picatinny top rail spans the handguard (no receiver-top rail), and the glass-filled polymer M-LOK handguard keeps weight down to approximately 5 lb. The receiver is marked 'M&P FPC' and 'SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA USA,' and the carbine ships with polymer flip-up sights installed.
