- Savage Arms Model 24D Series P .22 LR / 20 Gauge combination gun
The Model 24D Series P combines a .22 Long Rifle barrel over a 20-gauge barrel for versatile field use in a single break-action platform. It offers a capacity of two, one in each barrel, with 24-inch barrels that balance handling and sight radius.
Operation is straightforward with the top-tang opening lever and an exposed hammer. A single trigger is paired with a hammer-mounted barrel selector, allowing quick choice between rifle and shotgun barrels.
Sighting is handled by iron sights: a ramped front blade and a fully adjustable rear leaf/elevator. The wood pistol-grip stock and beavertail forend are checkered for purchase, and the buttplate includes a white-line spacer. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
The receiver wears a color case-hardened finish, while the barrels are polished blued. Markings include "PROOF TESTED 20 GAUGE 3 INCH CHAMBER" and a factory barrel warning: "DO NOT FIRE SHOTGUN BARREL WITH SCOPE ATTACHED." Built in the USA during the 1970s, this example dates to 1978.
