This open-top cap-and-ball revolver is a Colt Blackpowder Arms Co. Signature Series (3rd Generation) reproduction. This example has a Rampant Colt medallion inlaid on the backstrap (no Samuel Colt script) and is chambered in .36 caliber with period-correct styling and markings.
The revolver has a 5.5-inch octagonal barrel with a hinged under-barrel loading lever. The barrel assembly is wedge-retained, and the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA," with the frame stamped "COLT'S PATENT."
Its blued rebate-step cylinder is roll-engraved with the naval battle scene, bearing the "ENGRAVED BY W.L. ORMSBY" credit and a "COLT'S PATENT / No." panel. A five-shot configuration is correct for this model, and matching serial numbers are observed on major components.
The hammer, frame, and loading lever are color case-hardened, while the barrel and cylinder wear a high-polish blue. A silver-plated brass trigger guard and backstrap, one-piece varnished walnut grip, and a small brass bead front sight complete the period look and handling. Factory designation for this model is F1405.
