The SF-VI is a six-shot, small-frame Colt revolver in .38 Special with a clockwise-rotating cylinder and cylinder stop notches located between the chambers. It uses Colt’s transfer-bar system in a double-action/single-action layout, pairing a smooth-faced trigger with an external hammer with a spur.
The 2-inch stainless steel barrel has a full underlug, a shrouded ejector rod with a knurled tip, and an integral ramp front sight, plus an oval lightening slot machined into the underlug/ejector-rod shroud. The fixed square-notch rear sight is milled into the topstrap for durability and a clean sight picture.
Constructed entirely of matte stainless steel (matte/bead-blast), the frame, cylinder, and barrel present a uniform, low-glare finish. The revolver wears black checkered rubber stocks with Rampant Colt medallions and a round-butt profile for a secure hold.
Markings and controls are classic Colt: a rearward-sliding, serrated cylinder latch; the Rampant Colt logo on the left side of the frame; and the serial marking on the crane. As part of Colt’s early new-action lineup, the SF-VI was produced for a short span before the model was rebranded, making this 1996 example a notable entry in the series.
Colt rated the SF-VI for .38 Special +P with an accelerated-wear caution, reflecting the gun’s robust stainless construction while acknowledging the added stress of higher-pressure loads. Its compact size, fixed iron sights, and dependable action make it a straightforward, purpose-built revolver from the 1990s era.
