Khyber Pass Handmade Copy – East India Company Percussion Cavalry Pistol, .76 Cal, 9 in Octagonal Barrel, Brass Furniture
This single-shot, muzzleloading percussion pistol is a Khyber Pass handmade copy of a British East India Company cavalry pattern. It is chambered in .76 caliber with an approximate 9-inch octagonal-exterior barrel and a full-length wooden stock with brass furniture. Non-factory "1860 ENFIELD" and crown "V.R." markings, irregular proof-style punches, and other telltale features identify it as a reproduction. No serial number is visible.

Multiple features indicate this pistol is a Khyber Pass replica of a British East India Company percussion cavalry pistol. The lockplate is stamped "1860 ENFIELD," and the pistol is in .76 caliber. British service pistols had moved away from bores of this size decades before 1860, which makes these markings inconsistent with an authentic 1860 production arm and supports a non-factory origin.
The lockplate carries a crown over "V.R." and small crowned inspector-style punch marks, plus a numeral "8." These marks appear noticeably cleaner than the surrounding metal, suggesting the lockplate was sourced from another gun and installed on this example. On the barrel top, the crown/letter punches are slightly off-center and the letters are not uniform, further aligning with known characteristics of Khyber Pass work.
Construction details match the cavalry pistol pattern: a single-shot percussion action, an approximate 9-inch steel/iron barrel with octagonal exterior, and a small front blade sight. The bore appears smooth at the muzzle. The pistol has no visible serial number.
The full-length wooden stock is fitted with brass furniture, including a brass nose cap, brass trigger guard, brass butt-cap, an oval butt-plate, and Lovell-style brass side-nail escutcheons. An iron lanyard ring is mounted at the butt, and this example retains a metal lanyard chain linking the butt ring to the fore-end ring.
