What’s Included
- Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpiece (Pre-Model 17) .22 LR revolver
Built on the K-frame in a square-butt configuration, this pre-model-number K-22 Masterpiece represents the classic target .22 from Smith & Wesson’s 1950s era. It was manufactured in 1956, just before the company began assigning model numbers, and corresponds to what would later be known as the Model 17.
The 6-inch carbon steel barrel has a tapered profile with a serrated rib and a pinned Patridge front sight. A micrometer-click, square-notch rear sight and a serrated topstrap round out the adjustable target sight system.
The revolver uses a double-action/single-action mechanism with a swing-out, six-shot cylinder. The rimfire chambers are recessed (counterbored), and the ejector rod is knurled and non-shrouded, reflecting period-correct construction.
Its polished blue finish is complemented by a case-hardened trigger and a case-hardened hammer with a checkered spur. Factory checkered walnut Magna stocks with diamond pattern and S&W medallions provide a classic grip profile.
Factory-matched serial numbers are present on the butt and cylinder, with assembly numbers in the yoke cut. Standard S&W monogram and U.S. frame markings are present on the sideplate and frame.
