The M&P15-22 Sport uses a semi-automatic blowback action chambered in .22 LR and features AR-15 style controls, including a selector marked SAFE/FIRE, bolt catch, and magazine release. It has a polymer receiver with a matte black finish and a manual safety. Made in the United States, it follows a familiar AR layout in a rimfire format.
The 16 inch carbon steel barrel is threaded and fitted with an A2-style flash hider. Capacity is 25+1, and this rifle comes with two factory 25-round detachable box magazines. The bore condition is excellent, with sharp rifling.
Furniture includes a 6-position collapsible stock and an A2-pattern pistol grip. The rifle wears a slim polymer M-LOK handguard for accessory mounting and a flat-top upper with a full-length Picatinny rail.
No factory iron sights are installed. An AIM Sports optic is mounted on the receiver rail, providing a ready-to-use sighting solution. Smith & Wesson provides a consumer safety alert and bolt inspection program for M&P15-22 rifles manufactured before Feb. 1, 2019.
