Commissioned as a tribute to Chief Crazy Horse, this commemorative Model 94 was produced for one year in 1983 and limited to 19,999 rifles, all using the CCH-prefix serial format. The tang is marked "U.S. Repeating Arms Co – Winchester TM's licensed from Olin Corporation," denoting the production era.
The rifle carries factory gold-filled engraving: a buffalo-hunt scene on the left side of the receiver, a Native portrait on the right, and Sioux tribe names in the borders. The barrel bears gold script reading "chief crazy horse" near the receiver. Complementing the artwork are a color case-hardened receiver, a blued fore-end cap, a blued steel barrel, and a metal buttplate.
Stocked in walnut with a straight-grip, smooth profile, the furniture is accented by brass tack inlays and a United Sioux Tribes medallion. A left-side saddle ring and a full-length tubular magazine complete the classic Model 94 profile with an 8+1 capacity.
Chambered in .38-55 Win, this rifle uses a 24 in round-profile steel barrel and a 13.5 in length of pull. Sights include a front blade and a tang-mounted aperture rear sight that has been installed. Overall, the configuration and careful handling make this a strong example of the commemorative series.
