Built on the Remington 1858 New Model Navy pattern, this revolver uses a robust solid top-strap frame, a loading lever with plunger beneath the barrel, and an external single-action hammer. The octagonal 6.5 inch steel barrel carries a blade front sight for a traditional sight picture.
The barrel and cylinder wear a blued finish, complemented by a color-case style hammer. The frame is left in-the-white (bright steel). The loading lever/rammer assembly and the grip strap/buttstrap are left in-the-white (bright steel). The cylinder is unfluted and six-shot, and the trigger guard is brass. Smooth hardwood grips with brass escutcheons complete the classic profile.
Markings include CIP PN black powder proofs, the Pietta FAP diamond logo, and a Made in Italy barrel legend. These factory proofs and maker marks verify Italian manufacture and black powder proofing appropriate to a percussion design.
This example features a 38 Special cylinder conversion in addition to its original .36 caliber percussion configuration. As a modern reproduction manufactured in 2022, it combines contemporary production with the established 1858 New Model Navy layout and handling.
