Product Description

Colt Bisley Model Frontier Six Shooter .44-40, First Generation, 7.5 in Barrel, 1907, Blued/Case-Hardened Single-Action Revolver

This is a first-generation Colt Bisley Model Frontier Six Shooter chambered in .44-40 Win., manufactured in 1907 with a 7.5 in barrel. It features a bone-charcoal color case-hardened frame paired with a high-polish blued barrel and the distinctive Bisley grip frame; the ejector housing is bright/in-the-white with most original blue absent, the two-piece grip frame shows a blued trigger guard with the backstrap/butt now bright/in-the-white (blue largely absent), and the cylinder currently presents bright/in-the-white with most original blue absent. The barrel is rollmarked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER," and the revolver shows matching serial numbers on the frame and trigger guard. Classic Colt markings include the one-line Hartford barrel address and three-line patent-date frame marking with Rampant Colt.

The six-shot fluted cylinder, single-action mechanism, and fixed sights reflect the Bisley variant’s purpose-built configuration. Checkered hard-rubber grips with molded Rampant Colt in relief (integral oval), a wide curved Bisley-style trigger, and a low, wide knurled hammer spur complete the correct Bisley pattern.

Markings are consistent with period production: the barrel bears the Hartford address, the frame carries the patent dates with the Rampant Colt, and the barrel is rollmarked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER." Additional small stampings are present on the butt. Country of origin is the United States.

Construction is all steel, with the frame color case-hardened and the barrel finished in high-polish blue; the ejector housing is bright/in-the-white (blue largely absent); the two-piece grip frame has a blued trigger guard with the backstrap/butt now bright/in-the-white (blue largely absent). The cylinder shows a bright/in-the-white appearance with little to no remaining blue. The revolver retains the fixed half-moon front blade and topstrap groove rear sight configuration appropriate to the model.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There are minor scratches and blemishes on the exterior surfaces. Light carbon buildup is present on the cylinder face and around the forcing cone, consistent with normal use.
