This Smith & Wesson Model 640-3 Centennial is a stainless J-frame revolver chambered in .357 Magnum with a 2.125 inch barrel and full underlug. It is a double-action-only design with an enclosed hammer, fixed sights, and an internal lock. Its Centennial configuration features a double-action-only mechanism with an enclosed hammer. The revolver includes Smith & Wesson’s internal lock and is chambered in .357 Magnum with a 5-round capacity.
Sighting is fixed, with a pinned black ramp front sight and a rear topstrap trench. A checkered S&W cylinder release latch provides positive manipulation.
Ergonomics are enhanced by the installed Hogue Monogrip rubber grips with finger grooves. Markings include “Model 640-3” on the yoke, a barrel rollmark “S&W .357 MAGNUM.”, and a frame rollmark “MADE IN U.S.A. … SPRINGFIELD, MASS.” This revolver was made in the United States.
