This Howa-manufactured Weatherby Mark V in .300 Weatherby Magnum carries the desirable South Gate, Calif. rollmark and dates to the 1974–1981 era. It features the classic nine-lug Mark V action and a 26 inch sporter barrel, with a later multi-color camouflage over-paint on the stock and portions of the metal. The rifle is a right-hand action despite an external "Left Hand" label.

Built by Howa in Japan, this Mark V bears the "Weatherby — South Gate Calif." rollmark and period-correct "Made in Japan" and patent markings. It is a right-hand rifle despite an external "Left Hand" label, and it was produced in the 1970s–1980s timeframe.
The action is the classic Mark V design with nine locking lugs, a 54-degree bolt lift, a fluted bolt body, and an enclosed bolt face. It uses an internal 3-round magazine with a hinged floorplate. A two-position safety on the bolt shroud includes a red fire indicator dot.
The 26 inch sporter-contour barrel is chambered in .300 Weatherby Magnum and ends in a recessed crown with no open sights. The receiver is drilled and tapped with four top holes. Barrel rollmarks include "Weatherby — 300 MAGNUM" alongside the standard Mark V patent marking.
The stock is a right-hand Monte Carlo with a cheekpiece, sling swivel studs, and a recoil pad. The stock and portions of the metal surfaces have been over-painted in a multi-color camouflage finish. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches. Two-piece scope bases and 1-inch rings are installed, and a black nylon sling with detachable swivels is fitted.
